Ammu @ school
A travelling drama has also been created with Ammu as the central character. It is aimed primarily at school children urging them to take to the sports fields also in addition to classrooms. The drama has been performed in 197 stages in schools and Institutes of technical education as on 31 May 2014. Accompanied by wide media publicity, the Mascot rose to fame instantly across Kerala. Stage shows in rural and semi-urban localities have often been preceded by a public procession led by the Mascot (in its 3D image) and created a festive atmosphere, with increasingly excited participation and involvement of the general public and local media.
The drama is an effective platform to sustain excitement about the Games in the run-up period. It is estimated that more than 3, 00,000 people, mostly children, have witnessed the play so far.
Following a circular from the Director of Public Instructions, Government of Kerala, directing all schools to arrange staging of the drama, the National Games Organising Committee has been flooded with requests from schools across Kerala to schedule the play at their institution.
